T-Shirt Tuesday: The Mrowr

The Mrowr

Another Tuesday, another adorable tee.  Yes, I know Edvard Munch’s The Scream is pretty played out in terms of pop culture, but I admit that I have  always been a fan of Expressionist art and this just happens to have a cat in it!  I love the little cheeseburger floating in the sky, as if this kitty is having an existential crisis because he cannot haz a cheezburger.   This particular tee is still available (at the time of this posting) from Woot! Shirt so get you one while you still can!  Until next time, haz you a cheezburger and keep wearing tees!

T-shirt Tuesday #8: Cat Lady

Cat Lady

Hello, and welcome to this week’s edition of T-shirt Tuesday!  If you haven’t noticed before, my tees are like my children (or cats) I love them all and really have no favorite, but this one is a special one.  I have always liked cats, not just the felines themselves, but things with cats on them.  Of course, such behavior gives an easy path to being called a “cat lady.”  While I’ve never considered it a derogatory term (and my single female friends say that it doesn’t apply to me since I am married), I know there is a stigma attached to it, implying the term “crazy” preceding it – see image below:

Eleanor Abernathy AKA Crazy Cat Lady from The Simpsons

Because of this, for many years  I hid my cat lady tendencies from all but those closest to me.  Recently, I have decided that, “To hell with the Haters!”  I am going to be out and proud about my cat lady status, thus the many cat themed shirts.  Now mind you, this does not mean put a cat on everything.  There is such a  thing as too much and just cat tacky.  And anything with photo-realistic cat paintings on it are just a bit too ironic and hipster for my liking.  I tend to gravitate towards cat/pop culture mash-ups.

Today’s sartorial shout-out was given to me for my birthday by some great friends.  It’s a cat lady shirt, but as one of my friends said, “It’s a sexy cat lady!”  So I’m owning being not just a cat lady, but a sexy cat lady.  This great tee comes from a great shop here is Austin that is brimming with awesome goods, Parts & Labour.  I’m not sure if this particular tee is still available, but they have plenty of cool tees and other items.  Until next week, hug a cat & wear a tee!

T-shirt Tuesday #6: Caturday!

To say that I have a lot of cat themed T-shirts would be an understatement. I do have quite a few, but this one would have to be one of my favorites.  This week’s sartorial shout out is Caturday.  What’s not to like about a tabby with green laser eyes on a Mayan calendar?   Per the designer’s Etsy page:

The prediction: When the Mayan calendar ends on 12/21/12 it will be Caturday. Cats will take over the world and shoot lasers out of their eyes.

When that day comes, I want to be prepared to let those cats know what side I am on.

I actually came across this shirt at the Austin Flea a few months back and had to have it.  It’s perfect for any day and always gets funny comments from people.  You can get your own Caturday gear (sweatshirts & totes, too!) from the geniuses at Hot Line Design Ink at their Etsy shop.  I think I need to get a new shirt as this one is fitting quite big these days.  Their Austin Bats are Tight shirt is quite awesome (and purple!) as well.

So until next time, watch out for cats with laser eyes and keep wearing tees!

OMG Awesomeness!: Henri – A Cat Video by Way of Sartre

I’m sure some of you have heard about this already, but I thought it was worth posting for those who hadn’t because it’s a gem.  After so many years on the Internet, there are only so many videos of adorable kittens and cats jumping in and out of boxes one can take.

OK, admittedly I can take a whole lot of those, but this made me laugh so hard that I had to watch it a couple of times.  And that usually doesn’t happen.

It’s the cat video I wished I had made.  If Cannes had a category for cat films, this would win in it.  I don’t know whether to LOL or just question my own existence.  I just love it.  Check out the sequel below for more feline ennui.
